  1. Let your own ears be your guide. There’s no right or wrong answer. You certainly won’t do any harm to the equipment by connecting things differently and experimenting. What sounds best to you?
  2. All I’m saying is that your symptoms “seem” to indicate a potential power supply issue. If you’re certain that your supply is working fine then the issue must be something also. I have no other suggestions.
  3. In general yes, a buffer before a fuzz pedal can affect the dynamics. But maybe there’s something else going on…. The original manufacturing of the POD Go had a flaw regarding input impedance. This could affect things as well unless you have a Pod Go that has either been repaired (free lifetime warranty) or was manufactured after that flaw was fixed. Contact Line 6 Support if you’re not sure about your specific POD Go.
  4. Those symptoms can indicate a power supply issue. Are you using the power adapter that came with the unit? If not, try testing the HX FX alone with its original power supply. If no joy open a support ticket.
  5. Thanks for the update. Very interesting. I suspect there's some sort of driver conflict on your music laptop. In my experience the most likely suspect is the non-ASIO-compliant ASIO4ALL driver which seems to be the Audacity default. If you want to test this uninstall ASIO4ALL and reboot your computer.
  6. Yes you can get an HX Stomp patch onto Helix. I’m not sure that it can be done directly using HX Edit. Perhaps it can, but you can certainly use a trial version of Helix Native to either create a Helix-compatible patch or at least to inspect and manually recreate it.
  7. Another procedural consideration….. Frankly I’m not sure whether this matters at all but it’s the way I would do it anyway. You haven’t mentioned whether you have any other Line 6 products with installed software. If so I would recommend you also uninstall/reinstall their associated programs and drivers. Uninstall in reverse order of installation time; begin with the POD Go stuff and then proceed backwards in time. When reinstalling, do the reverse; start with the oldest stuff and finish with the POD Go.
  8. That’s a good idea. Make sure you restart your computer after uninstalling. If that doesn’t work then it’s a good idea to phone Line 6 Support and ask for specific procedures to completely uninstall Line 6 stuff manually. Then start fresh. I commend your patience and perseverance. This will eventually get resolved!
  9. Yes, the POD GO Edit download package includes the POD Go Edit program itself as well as the required drivers. But they are separate things. What you download is an installation package. When you run the installer you have an option to deselect certain components such as a driver. It’s not wise to do so, but the program and the driver are two different things. I expect that’s what he is referring to. This doesn’t address your issue. You seem to have all required components installed. At this point I suggest you open a support ticket.
  10. Download and install the original Workbench software, not Workbench HD. This is the pre-JTV Variax editor. It allows you to adjust individual string volume levels. Unless you have a VDI-equipped Line 6 guitar processor (X3 Live, XT Live, some POD HD/Helix devices) you will also need the Variax Workbench hardware interface device. If you don’t already have one you may find them scarce and surprisingly costly.
  11. Not necessary in my experience. If something fails the first time you should do this on the next attempt.
  12. That’s correct. The proper driver is part of the POD Go Edit download package. After downloading, run he installer and select to install all components. I don’t think Reaper provides usb drivers because they apply to hardware devices. A windows system will provide generic usb drivers for its hardware but an audio interface device like the POD Go typically provides its own unique driver. I believe a purely software product like Reaper uses the host hardware drivers. Try downloading and installing POD Go Edit again.
  13. That depends on whether or not you use Helix presets to change the Variax model (or any other Variax settings) in your 600 as you select different presets. There is a Global vs. Per Preset option for Variax controls. If you don’t need/want to change Variax models using presets you can use one preset to set the Variax Volume level to 10 and then set the Variax contro parameter to Global. Any future changes to the Variax controls that are stored in different presets will be ignored as you switch presets until you change that parameter back to Preset control.
  14. Update: For no real reason I decided to change my Line 6 account password and this seems to have resolved things. I am 99.99% certain that I was using the correct password earlier. Something screwed up but I am not going to pursue it.
  15. Unfortunately I can't login using License Manager in order to authorize the new computer. I have deauthorized all others since this is the only one I use with Line 6 stuff. I have opened a support ticket.
  16. I think moving to Reaper is a good idea. Over the years I've heard many users report problems using Audacity with Line 6 devices. It's usually related to their use of a non-compliant pseudo-ASIO driver called ASIO4ALL. Like you I believe the issue is Audacity's non-support of ASIO natively.
  17. More info.... I also have Ampeg's SVT Suite app/plugin. I can log in successfully to my Ampeg account to authorize it. Both Line 6 and Ampeg are owned by YGG and they share some technical resources re: plugin development. It's a mystery to me why my Ampeg account login seems fine but my Line 6 account login isn't working properly.
  18. Thanks for confirming that it's not their servers.
  19. I’m not familiar with Audacity but in most DAWs you can specify the range of usb input/output channels in the driver settings somewhere. Have a look around.
  20. I had a boot drive failure in Win10. I replaced the boot drive and took the opportunity to upgrade to a clean install of Win11. I am able to login to my Line 6 account for purposes of the forums. However I am unable to login using Helix Native to authorize it. Similar issue trying to login using HX Edit and License Manager. Error Code 8000200b "The attempt to secure the connection failed." Any ideas other than support ticket?
  21. There is a setting in the Variax section of every Helix preset that is effective with the VDI connection. It allows you to assign the Variax Vol knob as a controller and specify how you want it to behave. Since it is a per-preset setting you may be experiencing unexpected volume changes when switching presets due to this parameter setting. Sounds to me like you want to set it to Don’t Force which means you want to control the Variax Volume using the guitar itself. I know this feature works with Variax guitars from the JTV series onward. I’m not sure whether this works for the pre-JTV guitars. Try it. If it’s not available the issue is something else.
  22. You do have a Line 6 account - you are using it to make this post. You don’t need to use any old one that may still exist. In your account, register your Helix device . Contact Line 6 if any difficulty. However, you shouldn’t need any account info or device registration to update your Helix. If prompted for it you can just ignore and proceed. Begin by downloading and installing the latest version of the HX Edit program. Choose to install all components. Then Run HX Edit and follow the update instructions carefully. Note that since your last update was years ago the procedure is a little cumbersome. Make sure you know what version of firmware is currently installed and select the right set of instructions. You can proceed with your appointment but frankly if you encounter any installation issues this user community is likely more knowledgeable and helpful than your average retail employee at the store. Come back here for guidance if the installation doesn’t seem to be working.
  23. I'm looking and have approved this post. It seems to be the first post under this username which is why it was flagged for moderator approval. You should be able to make other posts without needing approval now.
  24. Yes, you need to install the Line 6 ASIO driver for the POD Go.
  25. If there is such a capability I’ve never heard of it.
