  1. I'm very careful with these cables between the controller and rack unit. Line 6's Spider Valve also uses an ethernet cable but if you use the wrong one, a cross-over CAT-5 cable for example, you will fry the processor board in the amp...
  2. just plugged in to my Helix floor, mic input straight thru to multi output - I see signal at the mic input and hear sound out. I'm bummed, thinking the mic input is bad on my rack? Is there a way to check/confirm? Anyone know what that costs to repair?
  3. Cannot get any sound froguitar plus mic.hlxm the mic input on my Helix Rack. Really really hoping it's user error. preset is attached. phantom power is off, mic gain is set at 15dB (cranked it up to 60dB and no change), mic in low cut at 75Hz (tried it off also). I see no indication of signal on the mic input on the Helix rack display. Help please?
  4. Only guitar input, thought it was set that way - thank you for catching. I'll take care of that. I was having some weirdness with the EXP pedal (different thread). After a save & full reset I'm not seeing this now. Hoping it was just something weird that's been cleared up now...
  5. MkIV Lead.hlx Here you go... PS - footswitch mode is preset/stomp
  6. Should add I am running a Helix Rack with the Helix Control and Line 6/Mission expression pedal. Don't think t makes a difference but just in case... datacommando - yep, exp1 set to Global. Thank you for the reply, will try resetting. theElevators - yes EXP1 is selected in all presets (I run in preset/stomp mode on the footswitches). Am not using EXP2/3.
  7. Newbie to the game, my take so far (coming from decades with tube amps)... I envision two different setups with the Helix. First, primary for me, is Helix going to FOH and in monitors. For an FRFR speaker at home I went with the same as we use for our mains (QSC K12.2). Reason being I wanted to dial in Helix hearing what was going to be coming out of our PA as close as possible (without the subs, but...). Second setup I haven't decided on yet, which would be for guitar not going thru FOH. I know I could get by with the Helix + K12.2. But a power amp + guitar cab has old school appeal and I see many comments about how well this works. To me, this is along the same line as a Powercab or Tonemaster FRFR and I already have a couple nice cabs. The plus side to this is old school having your amp thumping behind you playing live. But also appealing, in the more modern sense, when not going thru FOH is going with a pair of smaller mains (8" or 10") and running stereo. Have heard a couple guys doing this and it sounds really really good. I haven't started working on stereo setup yet, only so many hours in the day and feel like I'm only 85% there in tweaking my basic amp/effects settings.
  8. I have preset blocks divided between two lines (two DSPs?). I've noticed the input to the second line showing signal/flashing when there is no guitar input (input to the first line) or output from the first line. Is this normal?
  9. I have EXP1 set up as a volume pedal after amp & cab blocks. I have EXP1 set to 'Global' in global settings - I want volume to remain where the pedal is set when I switch channels. I recently built a new bank of patches by copying from existing patches in the same setlist folder and then making adjustments to the amp model. After making adjustments and saving the one preset I adjusted, I found that when I switched channels the volume would change - i.e. not remain where the pedal was set. WEIRDNSS: the volume would stay where the pedal was set on some presets, but then change volume when I switched to others. FURTHER WEIRDNESS: if I hit the same channel switch twice, *sometimes, not consistently* the volume would first be not where the pedal was set (say 100%) then hit the same channel switch again and the volume would change to where the pedal was set. Is there a setting in a menu somewhere I'm missing that might be causing this? Or something else I'm missing or might try to 'reset' Helix if it's in a weird state? PS - First time using the Helix for a gig this weekend (been using tube amp up until now), hope to get this sorted out before ...
  10. How would I check that and correct if necessary? On the Windows properties page (system>sound>properties) I see Provider: Line 6, driver sate: 1/12/2024, driver version 2.0.0.0. I'm thinking this is the Windows driver, not the ASIO?
  11. First time using Helix to record digitally, simply using Windows Sound Recorder app. Easy to set up and make the recording but the recorded volume level is very low. I cannot find a way to adjust recording volume on Sound Recorder - I have Windows input settings for Helix set to 2 channels, 16-bit, 48Khx, input volume 100%. Cannot find a way to adjust the digital output on Helix. Spent some time searching but have not found anything. Did learn about digital recording vs analog, and lower digital recording levels, did see posts about turning up channel volumes or other Helix blocks, but still seems to me like there has to be a way to adjust the digital output volume. Help please?
  12. Not at home to try this - will moving the cab to the end of the signal chain change my tone(s), will I need to re-tweak everything again?
  13. Been reading some other threads and am confused... Looking to send XLR with cab sim to FOH and 1/4" without cab sim to a power amp/cab. My presets use both lines/DSPs: wah-compressor-amp-cab-volume pedal on first line, gain boost-phaser-delay-verb on second line. Do I put cab last in the chain and split outputs before the cab (does not seem 'right' to me)? Is there a global setting to turn off cab sim per output? Is there a setting in the cab's themselves to control sending to specific outputs?
  14. Thank you for the tip on the global setting datacommando. What effects category are you finding Auto Wah in? I've tried Autofilter and Mutant Filter, Autofilter comes close but not the same as Autowah.
  15. Hoping this is just a user setup issue... I have a volume pedal after the amp in my signal chains for a master volume to the mixing board (keyboard player volume changes a lot and I need to be able to adjust...). My controller is set up for presets on the bottom row and stomps on the top row. When I switch channels the volume seems to go to the programmed level (? - or maybe last level before switching away from that channel)? I seem to need to sweep the volume pedal top/bottom to get full functionality every time I switch channels? I'd like to be able to switch preset channels and keep the volume (pedal %) wherever the volume pedal is currently sitting when I switch channels. Coming from a Spider Valve, which works this way when you switch channels (miss/would love the AutoWah stomp from the Spider Valve...). Suggestions?
  16. This cheat sheet is awesomeness!!! Hoping you'll add the 3.80 firmware updates when you have a chance :)
  17. Thank you rd2rk - we were typing at the same time. Still going thru the manual, your comments help to understand. So I cannot change from Cali IV Rhythm 1 to Cali IV Lead (presets) without a momentary dropout? Seems like this would be a fundamental issue. How do you guys go from a clean channel for verses to a lead channel for solo then back to clean again? Using a stomp box for distortion seems lame if I want the Mark IV lead creaminess for solo's?
  18. Thank you for the reply somebody, that's the confirmation I was looking for. Haven't had a chance to run thru the PA yet, been working with headphones... A little more staring at the diagram for 11C, I see they use amp only but then instantiate dual 4x12 cabs so the factory preset does use a cab. Still trying to learn the ropes of footswitches. I want to keep it simple - bottom row to switch between amp channels (clean/crunch/lead) and top row to turn on/off effects. I think my Helix is set for stomp mode? I have to hit the bank button to see the amp channels and when I select a channel the displays turn to the stomp/snapshot selections. I'd like to keep the amp channels displayed on FS8~FS11 and effects displayed on FSFS2~FS5. I'm old school simple. I want to be able to switch between clean/crunch channels for rhythm and then select lead channel for solo and then back to clean/crunch after solo (FSFS9~FS11). When I select the channel, I want the effects I've setup for that channel available to turn on/off (top FS2~FS5). Know there's a lot of tricky stuff t be set up with stomp/snapshot modes and may eventually get there, but would like to start out simple...
  19. Newb question: I'm looking to emulate my Boogie MkIV. And I found in the Factory 1 folder, patches 11A-Cali IV Rhythm1, 11B-Cali IV Rhythm2, 11C-Cali IV Lead... 11A & 11B use Amp+Cab. 11C uses Amp only. From what I gather from the reading/videos I've done, if I'm going thru the PA I should be using Amp+Cab? And if I'm going thru an amp like one of the Seymour Duncan SS amps into a cab I should be using Amp only? If I'm going into return of a tube amp (*not* 4CM, out of Helix straight into effects return) I would use Amp only? So if I'm running thru PA only, I should be changing 11C to Amp+Cab? I'm looking to set up these three channels on FS8, FS9, FS10, Then add some effects on stomp switches, different effects on the different clean/crunch/lead channels. Looking to run thru PA/monitors only, but there will be occasions when I will not be going thru a PA and running a SS power amp thru a 1x12 or 2x12 cab. Thank you in advance :)
  20. Maybe I'll start another topic on this, but where I want to start is similar to the setup I have on my Spider Valve. Want to get going quickly, get some basic presets set up and sounding good so I can gig with it ASAP. Along the way, looking for advice on what I need in the way of pre-amps/power amps/IR's/cabs to get things sounding good thru the PA, what to have/not have to sound good thru a power amp/cab; and thru both PA and power amp/cab simultaneously (I have a Rocktron Mainline and a 1x12 Boogie cab, and the 2x12 Mesa cab, but happy to hear advice on better setups including just going for a PowerCab). But I digress... I'd like bottom row switches FS8~FS11 to be Fender chimey clean, Roland LC120 clean, British/Marshall crunch (or Boogie MkIv crunch), Boogie MkIV lead. When I switch between clean/crunch/lead I want to stay on that page, not go to snapshots or stomp mode, which is what the unit is doing now. Depending upon which amp/tone I have selected FS8~FS11, I'd like to have FS2~FS5 assigned to effects/stomp boxes. For example on the Fender clean have tube screamer, flanger, echo, plate reverb FS2~FS5; crunch have Auto Wah (this is in Spider Valv MkII, have not found it in Helix yet), flanger, digital delay, plate reverb; ... I appreciate all the help folks. Please feel free to point me to any existing threads :)
  21. Helix newbie here, on the way but do not have my Helix in hand yet. Coming from a Spider Valve, which I've been gigging with since they came out. So I'm very used to and would like to set up the Helix switches like an FBV - bottom middle 4 switches to select between amp types and top middle 4 switches to turn on/off effects. I assume this is do-able? Does anyone else run live like this? Or can point me to patches/setups I can download from Custom Tone or other resources?
  22. Yep, not a hint of one in the Line 6 booth at NAMM. Been dead for a while, but now I guess it's official. Soooo much potential left untapped in this line. The DT series/concept is OK, but this is what players want if choosing to go this route. Oh well......
